How Fjord created a multi-device strategy for leading Spanish bank BBVA, plus a user experience framework for their new digital banking service.
Helping a banking giant discover new online opportunities
BBVA is the second largest bank in Spain, and the seventh largest financial institution in the Western world with a market capitalization of over €61 billion.
BBVA came to Fjord looking for simply for an iPhone application – but were impressed enough to give us the task of devising their multi-device strategy, plus all the services within it, and to explore the boundaries of new services within these platforms.
From Rumble to user experience framework
Rather than approach the project as a series of isolated application, Fjord carefully examined all the different platforms across which BBVA was looking to develop. These included Android and BlackBerry options, in both application and browser formats.
We started with a wide-ranging and highly productive workshop session, using our ‘Rumble’ format, and set up close collaboration between our design team and the client in order to understand how the bank’s new branding would affect the visual design.
Understanding customers through new platforms and channels
Overall, our Madrid team created a user experience framework that gives a confidence and direction to new digital banking services from BBVA.
Specifically, the end product was a holistic application offering that provides a banking service to BBVA customers. Our wider work enables the bank to start using new channels to create innovative ways for customers to manage their money.
“Fjord’s designs have brought a new level of visual sophistication to our banking products and services. These next generation banking products will enable users to consume data and interpret it much more easily than before”
