Fjord and the Open Mobile Summit

April 14th 2011

At Fjord we have been long-time fans of Open Mobile Media’s Open Mobile Summit the next one is June 8th and 9th in London.

We have spoken there several times and every time there is a great crowd with us.

What makes it unique is the mix of speakers. Robin Batt, who organises the event, gets the big name CEOs from the industry leaders and mixes them with the CEOs from emerging start-ups. This is a fantastic mix.

This year Stephen Elop CEO Nokia, Olaf Swantee EVP Orange and Kevin Lynch CTO Adobe are speaking alongside Amazon’s app store lead Aaron Rubenson, eBay’s VP Mobile Steve Yankovitch, David Ko SVP Mobile at Zynga and Peter Vesterbacka of Angry Birds.

It is particularly this mix that I like as it creates a superb tension. Each year more and more room has been given to the product creators and to the start-ups. Last year in San Francisco, some start-ups launched their products and services there, which I thought was a really smart move. This trend will of course draw the media to the event also.

As big fans we decided that we want to contribute, and we are pulling in some designers to document the event using visual note taking. Those of you who are regulars will have seen the giant mural that we created out of the speeches last year. These notes will then be distributed to participants and attendees after the event.

I really urge you to show up at this event. I will be there sharing some views on digital banking and payments which is a really exciting topic at the moment and are we are doing state of the art work in this field. I will also share insights on some hot trends we see bubbling.

We can offer our friends a discount code: FJORD. This will save you £100 if you register before April 21st.

Hopefully see you in London in June.
