Gesture-control of computer functions

December 17th 2008

OK, this is nuts. The video is 5 minutes long but worth checking out. This guy has developed a system of attaching (essentially) a microphone to any flat surface and then reading scratch / tap gestures you make on the surface and then applying them to control computer functions.

Think controlling iTunes by tapping on the desk or wall, or your leg. This has really interesting uses and huge potential.

I don't normally post stuff like this (just tag it) but I'm so interested in physical gesture as control of application I had to put it up here. I hate screens and menus as a default scenario, the potential with touch is so much more intriguing. Especially in real world scenarios (outside).
