Top 10 location-based applications

Wired Magazine outlines top 10 location based applications and how they make our lives easier or fun taking advantage of GPS data.

The article "Inside the GPS Revolution: 10 Applications That Make the Most of Location" gives a great overview of what location-aware mobile apps of today stand for. Looking at the apps ranging from a speed camera warning system for drivers to a safety app for emergency situations it becomes evident that there is a trend towards single purpose applications and having many of them rather than one big app that does everything around location. Sadly all the apps are built for iPhone and Android, which yet compose a minority among mobile phones in use. Where are the location based services for the other platforms and devices? 2009 will hopefully introduce some changes.
