Fjord customer joins iPad mania

May 28th 2010

Teletext Mobile (a subsidiary of AND - the digital consumer division of A&N Media - part of DMGT plc) today announced a new iPad app for the consumer newspaper Metro in the UK. The app was designed by Fjord - and is the second time that Fjord has worked with the AND group following the release of the highly successful FindaProperty iPhone app back in February.

The innovative ‘Metro’ iPad app will be one of the first iPad national newspaper apps to be available in the UK. Based around the concept of a living newspaper, it combines live digital news into a dynamic paper-like experience. The app's design facilitates both 'news focus' areas, and a headline browsing, 'news snacking' front page – allowing people to simply let what appeals to them catch their eye - just as they would with a print newspaper. The app also makes great use of the expanded screen space and function that the gesturing and multi-touch facility offers on the device. For example, viewers are able swipe between individual headlines and full stories with a single finger but also move through the paper's sections using a dual finger swipe. Featuring all the news, showbiz, sport and gallery information that people love about the Metro newspaper and its website, the app was designed by Fjord to make the best use possible of the iPad.

The app will be in the Apple app store shortly, and more info about the app can be found on Metro website.
