FEI Conference Day 3: People are the Killer App

Day 3 at the Front End of Innovation Conference built on our key themes of humanizing the Internet of Things and designing for relationships from days 1 and 2.

Today in the Makeshop, we asked attendees the following question: What new product or service would give you more time for your relationships?” We created physical journey maps of a typical weekday and weekend and looked for key moments where we could save or grab back time for the people in our lives. This fascinating study focused on how services can impact relationships with family and friends – and also with yourself.

As our lives, collections of devices, and services become more complex, getting time back for relationships is a struggle we all face. Taking the time to design journeys focused on giving time back to ourselves and relationships was a powerful focus for our team and conference attendees.

The Makeshop was a powerful draw at the conference: breaking things, making things, helping to shift the focus from things to people and infusing our active design process into the environment.

One great quote from one of the conference attendees: “People are the killer app.”

We couldn’t agree more.
