The month of the moustache

In November, Fjord Berlin office celebrated a month of facial fashion and hairy beauty a.k.a. Movember. The idea behind Movember is simple: every November, Movember asks men across the world to grow a moustache with the aim of raising vital funds and awareness for men’s health issues.

So we took the challenge, shaved on November 1st and then let it grow. For a proper kick-off we had a Movember themed breakfast with (at that time still necessary) fake-mustaches and some mustache-themed food. We had lots of fun and were proud to be Mo-Bros for the next month. But the month of Movember is not for men only. The Fjord Berlin Mo-Sistas supported us. They did their best to give us fashionable advice, for example on important questions such as which mustache to grow – because the options are numeruos: Should we go for the horseshoe, the dali, the walruss, choose the fu manchu or even the classic magnum?

Once the moustaches started to grow we realized that life with a mustache is not quite the same. Some of our clients were a bit surprised when we met them, but who wouldn’t if a group of Super Marios enters your office! We were also wondering whether we are creating peer pressure on our interviewees. The word might spread that in order to work at Fjord Berlin, you need to wear a mustache.

But besides all the fun we were raising donations for a good cause. In Germany the official Movember health partner is the “Bundesverband Prostatakrebs Selbsthilfe“. It is a charitable organization of 240 patient support groups in Germany. It’s main focus is to help men who suffer from prostate cancer.

We were happy to support such a good cause and although our wives and girlfriends might be happy to see our freshly shaved faces again, most of us can’t wait to next year’s Movember. Go Mo-Bros!
