Creative Design Director

At Fjord, design leadership drives creativity and innovation at all levels. Our design leadership invests itself in strengthening the relationships between our teams, our clients, our work, and the people who use our products and services every day. As Creative Design Director, you’ll own the design practice and delivery at the studio level. You’ll be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams to produce quality design work for our clients. You’ll also establish processes, estimate level of effort, and liaise with other Directors across the studio to facilitate knowledge sharing. This is your opportunity to evolve integrated design as both a discipline and a practice.


As a team, we:

  • Lead and inspire design teams and individuals.
  • Provide oversight and lead design activities across client and internal projects.
  • Create opportunities to solve business challenges with design excellence.As a designer, you:
  • Drive design quality, practice, and offerings that meet business and user goals as well as create new offerings within Fjord.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to create integrated design solutions for a diverse array of industries, scale and mediums.
  • Assume responsibility for the overall quality of the studio’s work.
  • Manage the studio’s design team, managing morale, performance, and growth.
  • Manage at least one account and oversee quality, while leading client relationships.

  • Build and strengthen the multidisciplinary skillsets of designers across the region.


Your Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 15 + years relevant industry experience with proven leadership experience.
  • In possession of a relevant degree or professional qualification(s).
  • Prior experience designing applications that balance user needs, commercial interests and technological constraints.
  • Proficient in relevant software packages.
  • Able to clearly present concepts and justify design decisions.
  • Able to multi-task and perform well under pressure.
  • Careful attention to detail and high quality standards.
  • Able to work independently and identify and solve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Able to function, adapt and succeed in a constantly changing environment.
  • Proactive, self-sufficient and professional, with strong organizational, time management and communication skills.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about excellence.
